It was one long, hot summer here in Houston and we have all seen the effects of the high temperatures on our electric bills. Lately temperatures have been dropping into a more comfortable range—in fact; we have had some downright chilly mornings and evenings. It’s quite a roller coaster ride, but it’s also a reminder that our homes need to be efficient no matter what the temperatures outside are reading on the thermostat. Whether we are heating or cooling our homes, conservation is important, and that’s where Renaissance Windows & Doors comes in. You will find all the information on energy efficiency you need on our website and you will find all the products you need to make your home more conservative when you visit our show room.
Energy Star Home Products
The Energy Star website is a terrific online destination for information on everything related to saving power, from assessing your home to sealing & insulation to tips for heating & cooling efficiently and is also a rating system, determined by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency. A product earns an rating label by meeting the requirements set forth in Energy Star product specifications for energy savings and efficiency. Infinity by Marvin Windows
When the Energy Star rating is granted it is only granted for energy uses up to mandated levels, but Infinity by Marvin windows are designed to exceed the performance requirements of the ratings. Further, Infinity by Marvin qualifies for the rating in every U.S. climate region. The Ultrex pultruded fiberglass resists both heat and cold; resisting the swelling and contraction that extreme temperatures can cause means these products keep their shape, staying weather and air-tight to remain energy efficient year after year.
Hurd Windows are also a proud Energy Star partner, and they have dedicated themselves to designing, building, and promoting energy efficiency into their windows and doors. With four choices of window types—aluminum clad wood, all-wood, H3, and Hurd FeelSafe—you are sure to find the right window for your home. Investing in the right window now will save you money month after month, year after year in utility charges.
National Fenestration Rating Council
The Energy Star rating is probably the most familiar, but it’s not the only rating that relates to the energy efficiency of your home. The National Fenestration Rating Council is a non-profit organization that administers a uniform, independent rating and labeling system for energy performance of windows, doors, and skylights. Both Hurd and Infinity by Marvin are rated by the NFRC, the only rating organization and system that are designed specifically for use by window and door industry professionals. Are you curious about how your current windows rate, or do you want to look up the ratings for Hurd and Infinity by Marvin yourself? Use the NFRC’s Directory Search to find information on windows, doors, skylights, and applied films; search by manufacturer’s name and/or product type.
