Hurricanes – it’s Good to be Prepared in Houston

If you’re building a new home in a coastal area, you already know about hurricanes. You certainly don’t need to look at a map to learn whether you’re at risk. Instead, what you need to know is what’s the best way to protect your family, your keepsakes and your investment.

FeelSafe windows and patio doors are specially engineered inside and out to meet some of the highest air, water and structural performance ratings of any window or door in the United States.

We use only structural sealants; not standard silicone. We require special installation with additional anchorage. We use corrosion- resistant, 300 series stainless steel hardware and, wherever needed, upgrade to longer, stronger stainless steel screws. Hurd’s 0.050” extruded aluminum cladding is at least twice as thick as competitors’ roll-form cladding. This results in greater durability and dent resistance.

Showcase Custom Vinyl delivers proven resistance to penetration from flying debris.  Standardized missile testing shows our windows resist repeated blows by a 9 pound, 10 Ft, 2x4 beam traveling at34 mph. They have resisted wind velocities of 171.5 mph. No need for ungainly plywood, or telltale metal shutters. Meets CPSC, CFR 1201 and ANSI Z97.1 safety glazing standards.

Greatly reduced sound transmission: Acoustic studies show reductions of up to 50% in the transmission of outside noise, compared to ordinary glass. This makes for a more peaceful and restful home, regardless of location.

Meets ASTM F-1223 (class 1) forced entry standard.
