The Ultrex® fiberglass employed by Marvin for their line of Infinity doors and windows is different in both form and function than regular fiberglass materials. A
Ultrex® is made with strong cables of glass which are saturated with specially compounded resins; the result is a durable, non-corrosive window that is superior in strength and durability. As a result of the superior strength, Infinity windows allow the window profile to be narrower as compared to those made of wood or vinyl, which in turn results in more visible glass area. Regardless of extreme temperatures, Ultrex® withstands and remains square and true.
A few specifics about Ultrex® to help you learn more:
• Ultrex® fiberglass is 8x stronger than vinyl, 3.5x stronger than wood/vinyl composites, and 3x stronger than wood.
• Ultrex® fiberglass has a very low thermal expansion rate, which keeps the window stable and weather tight. As an example, vinyl expands at seven times the rate of Ultrex® fiberglass.
• Ultrex® is made of partially recycled materials, is environmentally friendly, and requires 39% less energy to produce than vinyl.
