For over 50 years JELD-WEN has been dedicated to crafting and manufacturing high-quality, reliable windows and doors. Over the years they have grown from the original one-millwork Oregon plant into a company that employs over 20,000 people across the world. One thing that hasn’t changed is JELD-WEN’s commitment to community, efficiency, quality, and performance. Choosing a JELD-WEN exterior door for your home doesn’t require sacrificing style for energy-efficiency; no matter where you live, JELD-WEN fiberglass doors will contribute to the energy efficiency of your home, and look beautiful in the process.
Fiberglass is virtually maintenance-free, requiring little effort on your part to keep it looking great. Less expensive and more durable than wood, fiberglass is very dent-resistant which makes it ideal for heavy traffic doorways. Wood requires frequent painting, varnishing and finishing, but fiberglass maintains its beauty year in and year out, through all kinds of weather.
Energy efficiency with JELD-WEN
JELD-WEN offers many Energy Star-rated doors for your home. What does this mean for you? An Energy Star rating means a door exceeds the minimum energy efficiency criteria for the climate region you live in. In addition to Energy Star, JELD-WEN has partnerships with other organizations dedicated to sustainable, “green” building: they are a board-level member of the Green Building Initiative (GBI) and a voting member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). JELD-WEN’s exterior doors are certified through the National Accreditation and Management Institute (NAMI). For more information see our recent blog post about JELD-WEN’s environmental stewardship.
What about style?
Now that we’ve established JELD-WEN’s superior performance and high-level certification and partnerships in energy efficiency, let’s talk about how these fiberglass doors look. The artisans at JELD-WEN have created a fiberglass door that looks and feels like solid wood—right down to the knots and cracks. With a wide variety of wood grain finishes, paint colors, glass options and hardware choices, you can customize your JELD-WEN fiberglass door to fit your design preferences and your home’s architectural style.
Custom fiberglass doors can be ordered with factory stain, paint and antiquing options or you can opt for a ready-to-paint (or stain) door that you can finish yourself. Wood grain options vary depending on the style you choose: douglas fir, knotty alder, mahogany or oak are among your options. Panel doors also allow you to choose from a variety of options: distressing or panel profiles, raised moulding and detail panel profiles; decorative accents—such as custom carving and raised moulding--are available on some styles as well. JELD-WEN also offers a variety of glass options: energy efficient, protective, textured, tinted, blinds between the glass, venting door glass and decorative glass options are available (depending on door style) and help you customize your ideal door.
